One of the most common tests completed at the optometry office is the Non-Contact Tonometer (NCT), more often known as the “air puff test” or “glaucoma test”. To many patients, it is a mystery what this test is truly measuring but here is a quick run-down of the...Staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell they really care about every patient as they take their time and answered all of my questions. They also had a large selection of glasses/sunglasses. That being said you must be aware of their scheme to pay thousands of dollars for laser treatment of “meibomian gland blockage”. The optometrist used scare tactics such as saying I will have permanent damage and long term consequences if I didn’t take care of this now. As a physician myself (who really pressed the guy at the time bc I was skeptical) I waited a few months to see an ophthalmologist (a physician who specializes in eye care). This week I finally had my appointment and the ophthalmologist said there are no issues with my glands and simply gave education on gland hygiene. She said she has had a few patients in the last months come to her concerned over this issue and then on exam their glands are fine. This saved me a few thousand dollars. Please do no fall for this money grabbing hoax.
I would highly recommend Eye Theory! I walked in after leaving Greater Houston Orthodontics next door. Dr. Amir was wonderful. He was extremely polite, patient, and thorough. I also appreciated his honesty in helping me try to select lenses. It's obvious he enjoys his work and cares about people.
